Apple's Newest Gadget

Apple reveiled the new iPHONE today at MACworld.
"iPhone combines three products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device. iPhone also introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting you control everything with just your fingers. So it ushers in an era of software power and sophistication never before seen in a mobile device, completely redefining what you can do on a mobile phone. "
This looks like Apples' try to get into the handheld pc market that MS dominates. Thoughts?

Coming in 2 months Zune phone. No one will buy it no one will care. My mom commented on the Iphone and stated that she didn't understand it. Anyway some notes. The Video for the Iphone will be larger but the videos will probably be the same resolution so they might be stretched a little. Now I've been a gadget separatist (games on a game machine, phone on a phone, web on a computer etc) never been excited about an all in one machine. But as it goes for an all in once cell phone this is a pretty good option. I'm not sure how this is better than Treo or why Palm or Blackberry does not have these capabilities yet. Maybe no vision. They all still use the ARM processor types. I mean webpages on a Handheld are no new thing. Why has it taken til now to have website/music/phone in one. Or even why this is so big. Maybe I'm out of touch too.

I've decided what makes it so cool. The OS. This is what the PSP should have been. I mean add in VOIP built in and you've got a dandy of a machine. But the difference is the OS. Sony doesn't have the experience that Apple does. They really have done well. The technology isn't honestly that ground breaking. But the mobile OS is great.
